AVERY GEROSA (HERMEY) is “all smiles” to bring this holiday classic to life as everyone’s favorite aspiring elf-dentist! A third-year Theatre Arts major at Loyola University New Orleans, Avery has had a love of performing for many years, beginning in the JPA Theatre Kids! program, and is grateful for the chance to keep growing with the company. Much like Hermey, Avery has embraced following the path his dreams have led him, though in his case it’s toward the stage instead of the dentist’s chair. He would like to thank Kris Shaw for this incredible opportunity, his family and friends for their endless encouragement, and this wonderful cast of “misfits” for making this production one that’ll truly “go down in history!”

ELF / FIREBALL
Donovan Lawson is a musician and vocalist whose artistry blends jazz, classical, and contemporary styles. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Donovan has called New Orleans home since 2018, drawn to the city’s rich musical heritage and vibrant spirit.
Donovan's musical journey began at age six, singing in his church choir. He later expanded his skills through four years of piano study and, at the age of 11, discovered a lifelong passion for the trombone. His early education emphasized classical, jazz, and eclectic styles, laying a versatile foundation. Under the mentorship of Dr. Dave Dickey, Donovan honed his jazz skills and performed with the St. Louis Metrobones, sharing the stage with renowned New Orleans trombone-rock band Bonerama.
At Missouri State University, Donovan pursued a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance under Dr. Jason Hausback and performed as first-chair trombonist with the university’s Jazz Ensemble directed by Randy Hamm. Highlights of his collegiate career include a featured performance at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City as part of the Theater Department Senior Showcase.
Now based in New Orleans, Donovan performs with groups including La Tran-K Band, Revel Force Brass Band, and serves as a vocalist with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lakeview. His diverse musical background also includes experience in choral masterworks, small chamber ensembles, and original music projects. His influences range from Prince, Lady Gaga, Griz, and Queen to Trombone Shorty and Tommy Dorsey, inspiring his ambition to one day pioneer solo improvisational EDM performances featuring trombone.
Beyond performance, Donovan has fostered community through philanthropy and musical outreach with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity, believing deeply in music’s power to unite people across cultures and experiences. His calling to New Orleans was also a personal one — inspired by his grandfather’s favorite song, "When the Saints Go Marching In."
