Origin:Founded in 2023 by Carlie Goodlett and Avery Colle, Pomegranate Playhouse was first thought up in 2019 by Goodlett while working on a class project in her first year of college. As the years went on, Goodlett refined the idea to encompass a theater company driven by female perspectives and narratives of the LGBTQ+ community. Motivated by observing a New Orleans theatrical season of almost solely male protagonists, Goodlett and Colle recognized the pressing necessity for the emergence of Pomegranate Playhouse in the contemporary landscape.
Our mission is to empower and celebrate the voices of women and the queer community through compelling theatrical productions. As a female-led company, we are dedicated to showcasing the rich diversity and unique perspectives of women and queer individuals on stage. By presenting a repertoire of plays that center on the female and queer experiences, we aim to foster inclusivity, representation, and social change within the performing arts industry. Our commitment is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where talented artists can thrive, while engaging and inspiring audiences to challenge stereotypes and embrace the full spectrum of human stories. Together, we strive to create a world where female and queer voices are amplified, their stories are valued, and their contributions are recognized and celebrated.
