Sweeney Todd has become a bloody, worldwide success since being awarded eight Tony's, (including Best Musical), for its Broadway premiere. Stephen Sondheim's and Hugh Wheeler's tasty, thrilling, theatrical treat has simultaneously shocked, awed and delighted audiences across the world.

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!

This masterpiece is sure to both thrill and delight audiences.

Lauren van Mullem (Johanna) is excited to make her Westwego Performing Arts debut. She has previously been in Tennessee Williams Theatre Company’s productions of The Rose Tattoo as Rosa and Night of the Iguana. Other recent credits include Cabaret (30xNinety), Critters and Alice by Heart (Loyola University New Orleans). She is also a recent graduate of Loyola University New Orleans in Musical Theatre. Thank you Mom, Dad, Julia, and Taylor for putting up with me!

Scott Sauber (Perelli) received the 2025 Crescent City Theatre Award for Featured Performer for Ogie in Waitress here at JPA. His summer was spent at Tulane Summer Lyric playing Albin/Zaza in LaCage Aux Folles. At Rivertown, he looks forward to directing Disney’s The Little Mermaid in the summer of 2027.  Favorite roles around town include Bob Crewe in Jersey Boys at LePetite,  Peter Quince in Something Rotten at Rivertown, Igor in Young Frankenstein and most recently as Kevin T. in the local premier of COME FROM AWAY for JPA.  He directed the 2026 local premier of FROZEN the MUSICAL and after Conducting the Polar Express Train Ride in December, can next be seen as Monsieur Thénardier in Les Miserables at the JPAC.

Lalanya Gunn

Lalanya is excited to return to the JPAS Stage having been in The Addams Family, Shrek, Sweet Potato Queens and Jekyll and Hyde.  Originally from Buffalo, NY she holds a BFA in Theatre from Niagara University and an MFA in Theatre Education from MUW.  She has performed locally with other companies as an actor and director including, Summer Lyric, TWTC, RRDG, Intramurrel and Fat Squirrel. She created her own theater company Pallas Players focusing on feminine based work and stories. She currently teaches theatre in Jefferson Parish Schools.  As always Much love to Greg and her fur babies  KYlo and Valka.

Ty is a theatre maker and elementary arts instructor. He teaches in Jefferson Parish Schools and with Crecent City Stage. Ty most recently was in the cast of Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. Credits: Jagged Little Pill (Phoenix), Frozen (Weselton), Walt Disney Entertainment, Cedar Fair Entertainment, The View UpStairs (Patrick), Songs for a New World (Man 2), The School for Lies (Oronte), Assassins (Zangara). Logan Breaux

Logan Breaux (Ensemble) is so excited to be a part of his all-time favorite show. He was last seen at JPA as Tony Elliot in Billy Elliot. Other notable roles include James the Apostle (Jesus Christ Superstar, JPA), Nostradamus (Something Rotten!, Jesuit), The Wizard (The Wizard of Oz, St. Luke’s), and Rapunzel’s Prince (Into the Woods, BCM Dinner Theater). Most recently, he performed in Cinderella at Rivertown. Logan has also been part of the running/fly crew for multiple Rivertown shows, including Oliver!, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Sister Act. A special thank you to his wife Emily for all her support so he could cross this show off the bucket list and to his superstar Natalie. Thanks to Gary, Dennis, cast, crew, and all those who made this show possible.

Michael Sean Malley

Michael Sean Malley is thrilled to be back on stage with Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS), having previously appeared in the production of Fly. He was most recently seen as Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors at the River Region Drama Guild as well as in Annie at Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts. Michael would like to thank his fellow citizens of Fleet Street as well as his director for giving him to opportunity to perform in one of his bucket-list shows. Enjoy the show and take care!

Mitchell Kogan

Mitchell is thrilled to return to the stage in his JPAS-Westwego debut in "Gentlemen's Guide!" Mitchell is a 2021 Graduate of UNO and no stranger to the arts in the River Parishes. He has performed in multiple theaters including the River Region Drama Guild, St. John Theater, and Rivertown. Recent credits include "All Shook Up" (Dennis); "The Odd Couple" (Oscar Madison); "Once Upon a Mattress" (Prince Dauntless); "Assassins" (Leon Czolgosz); Elf: The Musical" (Buddy); and many more. Mitchell wants to give a big thank you to both David and Gary for their belief in him and for taking him along for the ride. He would also like to thank his family and friends for their continuous support in his passion for the arts, especially his girlfriend Morgan who gives him the encouragement to only get better. Brandon Bui is so excited to attend the tale once again! On the day-to-day, Brandon teaches talented and technical theatre at Thomas Jefferson Academy. Jonathan Dahl is extremely excited to be apart of his favorite musical! He is very happy to finally have the opportunity to be apart of a JPA production. Jonathan’s most recent roles include Sam from The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals and Alfred from Alice by Heart with River Region. Jonathan is currently getting his Film Degree at LSUNO. James Andrews is thrilled to be a part of this production! He is currently a junior at the Willow High School in its CA Musical Theatre program. He was last seen on the JPAS stage in Into the Woods Jr. (Cinderella’s Prince). Favorite productions he has been in include The Music Man and Sweeney Todd, at Tulane Summer Lyric (along with mother Emily Harville), as well as Shrek (Shrek) and Hadestown (Ensemble) at the Willow School.

Mia is so excited to be a part of her first production with WPAT and her first fully staged production in five years. She is a local educator and recent graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, where she studied education and vocal performance with an emphasis on classical music. Emily Harville

Emily Harville most recently performed as Mere Gerald in Dialogue of the Carmelites with the New Orleans Opera Festival.  Since returning to the stage after a hiatus spent raising children and getting tenure, she has also been seen on the JPAS stage in School of Rock, and at Tulane Summer Lyric in The Music Man and Sweeney Todd (together with son James Andrews).  Previous favorite roles include the Fairy Queen (Iolanthe), Katisha (The Mikado), Lady Blanche (Princess Ida), Kate (The Pirates of Penzance), and Mother (‘Night, Mother).

Bethany Cantrelle is thrilled to make her WPAT debut! She recently graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where she studied theatre. A few of her most recent credits include Frozen (Ensemble) and The Little Mermaid (Aquata, Princess 2, Ensemble) with River Parish Community Theatre and with USM, Big Fish (Ensemble), Electra (Iphigenia, Chorus), and Doctor Faustus (Evil Angel). She gives all her love to her family and friends who have supported her throughout her theatrical journey.

Delightful actress, singer, and dancer excited to debut on stage at Jefferson Parish Performing Arts Westwego. Most recently seen on stage at the Rivertown Theater in All Shook Up the musical. Soon to bring Christmas joy to children and adults again with the Polar Express Train Ride. Also seen on stage at Urban Expressions Vol 1 as a multifaceted dancer. A previous singing member of the River City Mixed Chorus in Omaha,NE. A participant at the GPTC New Play Festival in the plays Oddsville, Coco Queens, Culture Shock, and Diaspora. Previously seen in musicals on stages with the Rose Theater in Night at the Farm: A Bedtime Party, at the Omaha Community Playhouse in Dreamgirls, School of Rock and The Color Purple. A time was had with the Bellevue Little Theatre in the play Meet Me in St. Louis as Mrs. Smith. Additional theater credits, as Zarita in Simply Heavenly at The Union for Contemporary Art. Film credits include Taylor in Toxic Work Environment, supporting role in Mine with Carpool Productions and feature film Between the Lines produced by Bitter Hipster Films. Mary Clare Eastland

Mary Clare Eastland is thrilled to be making her Westwego Performing Arts stage debut! Most recently she had the privilege to choreograph A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder at WPAT. Some of her recent performance credits include Cinderella (Cinderella) and Alice by Heart (Tabitha/Cheshire cat), at River Region Drama Guild. Sister Act (Sister Mary Robert), and The Prom (Shelby), at Rivertown Theaters, and she has danced countless roles in Ballet Images The Nutcracker Over the years. You can see her next in The Marvelous Wonderettes as Missy in January. Mary Clare is studying elementary and special education at Nicholls State University, and she teaches ballet, tap, musical theatre, and tumbling classes at Encore Studios. She studies voice with Jennifer DeLatte and She has her own baking business called Queen of Cookies. Check her out at @queen_of_cookies_15.

Christina Cross is delighted to return to the West Wego performing arts Stage. She was most recently seen in my fair lady and is excited to join the Cast of Sweeney Todd. Some of her credits include, Miss shingle, in Gentlemans Guide, Miss, Hannigan, in Annie and Rosalie Mullins in school of rock. She Has a music degree from the University of New Orleans and she currently serves on the board of directors for the drama guild in her parish. She would like to thank her friends and family for their support and the director Gary Rucker.

Savannah is very excited to make her JPA debut and for the opportunity to be a part of this production. Her recent credits include Cherries Jubilee (Laura) at WPAT, as well as, Disaster! The Musical (Sister Mary Downey), Xanadu (Calliope), Sister Act (Mary Theresa... the old nun), Spongebob the Musical (Spongebob), The Play That Goes Wrong (Annie), and Elf the Musical (Deb) at Rivertown Theaters. Other credits include Shrek (Pinocchio), Rocky Horror (Janet Weiss), and The Addams Family (Wednesday Addams). When she is not at the theater, she is teaching math to 8th-12th grade special education students. She would like to thank David Haydel for trusting her with these roles and the cast/creative team for all their hard work. Shoutout to her family and friends for their constant, overflowing love and support!

Rachel Gagnard

Rachel is excited to debut on the Westwego stage as part of the Ensemble of Sweeney Todd. Rachel received her Bachelor of Music Education from Loyola University New Orleans in 2009. Rachel was recently seen in Legally Blonde (Store Manager), Jagged Little Pill (Denise), All Shook Up (Ensemble) and Disaster! (Ensemble). She spent many years as a Victory Belle at the National WWII Museum. She can be seen as part of the Les Miserables Ensemble on the mainstage this coming February. When Rachel isn’t performing, she works as a Charge Nurse  on a Neuro Stepdown Unit. Rachel would like to thank her husband and daughter for being her biggest supporters.

Cara Waring, born and raised in Alexandria, LA, graduated with her Master's from Louisiana State University in Vocal Performance in 2015. She has sung with Collegiate Chamber Choirs and Opera Theater Workshops. Her opera experiences include the title role in Princess Ida (Gilbert and Sullivan), Madame Pompous in Too Many Sopranos (Penhorwood), Celine in Signor Deluso (Pasatieri), Belinda in Dido and Aenaes (Purcell), and chorus roles in Trial by Jury (Gilbert and Sullivan), Merry Widow (Lehár), Faust (Gounod), and Suzanna (Floyd). She has also enjoyed participating in musicals such as Godspell (Schwartz), Kiss Me Kate (Porter),  Hello Dolly (Herman), Urinetown (Hollman), and The Music Man (Willson). She's spent some time studying in Europe and the United States of America. More recently, she performed as Zerlina in Don Giovanni in Bulgaria and then as Despina in Cosí fan tutte (Mozart) in D.C.  She enjoys singing in local churches and currently resides in the New Orleans area. She is grateful for this opportunity to perform with incredible cast!

Theresa McStay (Ensemble) is so excited to be doing her first ever Westwego Performing Arts show! Her most recent credits are, K. Howard (SIX Teen Edition) and Queen of Diamonds (Alice by Heart) at River Region Drama Guild and Fate (HadesTown Teen Edition) at JPAS. As well as Florika (Hunchback of Notre Dame) and Wardrobe (Beauty and the Beast) at Hahnville High School. Theresa is currently a Senior at Hahnville High School and plans to continue on to study Musical Theater in NYC and obtain a BFA. Eve Freyou (Ensemble) is very excited to make her debut with JPAS/Westwego Performing Arts! She has also done special effects and makeup work for several short films at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Jaclyn W. Krottner (Ensemble) makes her debut at Westwego Performing Arts! However, it hasn’t been her first time walking down Fleet Street. She was in SLT’s Sweeney Todd and returns for more blood and vengeance. Jaclyn has performed many plays/musicals at Playmakers and SLT. Her late sister was her inspiration into theatre after their high school performance of Hello, Dolly! Jaclyn is also currently writing a novel and soon setting the stage for her own play, Fair Lady of Blood & Lace, at Playmakers.

Lauren A. Gauthier is returning to the WPAT stage for a second time this year. She was last seen onstage as Sarah in Cherries Jubilee. Special thanks to Gary for having me be part of another project. Thank YOU. To the audience, thank you for supporting live, local theater.
